Move Human performance Center and Physical Therapy

Approximately 30% of people are inactive in the United States. If you’re in this category and want to get into better shape, you may be thinking it’s time to start working out. The problem is that even if you’re motivated to begin exercising, you may struggle to maintain an active lifestyle.

This article will help you on your fitness journey. We’ll break down four tips that will help motivate you to stick to your workout routine.

1. Create Small Goals

One large goal can be daunting, so break it up into smaller ones. Focus on one thing you want to work on at a time. Once you’ve achieved your first goal, move on to the next one.

Achieving each goal will help you feel like you’re accomplishing something. You’ll be less likely to feel discouraged. Small goals will help boost your confidence and motivate you to keep working out.

Try to create short attainable goals that aren’t impossible to complete or too long.

2. Write a Schedule

One way to stay committed to working out is to create a workout schedule. Write in your calendar the days and times you plan to work out. Make sure to keep it consistent so you get yourself in a rhythm.

If you write down when you plan to exercise you’re more likely to do it. You know you have the time to do it and can’t create excuses for yourself.

3. Don’t Do It Alone

If you work out with other people, it creates a sense of accountability. You’ll feel inclined to exercise because someone else is there and expects you to be there as well.

You can do this in one of two ways. You can have one-on-one sessions with a personal trainer, or you can go to group classes (both of which we offer).

When you go to group classes, you can enlist your friends to go as well. This will make the experience more enjoyable, and you’re less likely to skip out. You don’t want to let your partners down, after all.

Moreover, by going to group classes or hiring a personal trainer, you’ll pay to be there. If you skip out on classes, you’ll waste money, giving you further incentive to go.

4. Reward Yourself

To keep yourself motivated throughout the process, create a reward system. Each time you hit a goal, reward yourself.

You can even set the rewards in place ahead of time. This will give you something to look forward to each milestone you hit.

Try to have healthy rewards. Unhealthy rewards could end up setting you back instead of propelling you forward. You want your rewards to have a positive outcome, not a negative one.
